Group Operations Manager - East Midlands base - Divisional remit, £80 000, car, bonus, benefits
Entrepreneurially managed and with a consistent record of success our client has built a highly successful, extremely diverse group with core activities in manufacturing but with many other interests across its global activities. With revenues of c £500 million it’s Chairman is conscious of the need to build succession and seeks to appoint a well-rounded, commercial Operations professional with clear strategic capabilities to oversee one of the core divisions with a view to becoming P&L responsible for its business units.
The individual to be appointed will work closely with the Business Unit Directors, will review performance against budgets and forecasts and will seek to identify opportunities to enhance operational efficiency across the units and to seek commercial opportunities to enhance sales. He/she will drive initiatives to enhance machine speeds and optimise manufacturing efficiencies and service delivery and aim to achieve “best in class” standards across the operations. The Group Operations Manager will coordinate the budgeting and forecasting processes across the units. will analyse capital expenditure proposals and build strong relationships with the local executive teams. He/she will oversee the strategic plans locally and across the Division and will work closely with the Group head office teams .
An Engineer with a passion for manufacturing and modern manufacturing methodology, this is an outstanding opportunity to develop general management skills and responsibilities in a dynamic fast paced group. Ideally with some experience in a general management role in a business unit, the successful candidate will be empathetic with the challenges of business unit management but will drive rigour and discipline without losing the entrepreneurial flair central to success to date. As niche manufacturers the business units have always found ways to differentiate products and service delivery by being at the forefront of operational efficiencies and a key element of this role is to work with the Group executive and business unit management both in this division and others to search for future opportunities of that ilk.
