Group Finance Director

Our client is a group of manufacturing & distribution companies and since the business's inception the group has grown rapidly to sales in excess of £100 million. The group has ambitious plans to grow each business organically whilst actively seeking new acquisition's. As the size and complexity of the organisation develops then the need to recruit an experienced Group Finance Director has arisen. This highly commercial role will work directly for the CEO and will be an integral part of a lean group function.

The role will be extremely varied, challenging and the opportunities to effect commercial performance will be significant.

The key responsibilities and deliverables are outlined as follows:

Complete fiscal ownership of the Group accounting; delivering accurate, timely and meaningful month end and statutory accounts.

Provide scrutiny, challenge and analysis as to the performance of all individual business's units helping to improve overall performance.

Translation of accounts into clear, actionable, commercial information allowing confident and expedient decision making.

Production of the group's annual budgets and cyclical forecasts including the measurement and variance analysis of performance.

Working closely with the management of the subsidiary companies to help in the production of insightful management information.

Assist in the identification of potential acquisitions and other opportunities to drive the group's overall growth.

The Group Finance Director will need to be a highly commercial accountant whose ability to effect the profitable performance of a business is demonstrable. They will relish the opportunity to be a true 'business partner' and will spend considerable time in the subsidiary companies challenging the status quo and helping the leadership teams to achieve their business plans. Of equal importance to a strategic mindset will be the FD's eye for detail, meticulous approach and will possess the 'hands on' management to lead from the front. The group provides a great environment for a Group FD to work in a highly accountable business where the individual's decision-making acumen can translate into tangible actions and results. The candidate will already be a Commercial Finance Director or a Group Finance Director (who isn't detached from the operations of businesses) within a manufacturing, engineering, or industrial distribution organisation where finance is a visible, accountable and 'value adding' function.
