Head of Data Engineering

This is an opportunity to lead a multi-disciplinary team producing data products as part of a major programme deriving the mission of a major Regulator. The organisation is putting in place a data Platform to facilitate the development of data products supporting the various regulatory processes. This is a great opportunity to deploy your experience of Hortonworks/Cloudera in a cloud-based environment, and where you will be responsible for embedding agile practices in product development.

You need extensive experience -

• putting software and design principles into business practice for teams of software engineers using cloud-based environments
• Data management, handling and processing
• Datamodelling in data in movement (eg: interface payload, messaging)
• Portals and data related strategy road mapping
• Architecting and designing data movements, design of systems to leverage the data and its value as an asset
• Data analysis, profiling across MDM, reference, meta-data, analytics in structured and unstructured data sets (scheme on read/write).
• Data oversight across the enterprise and apply enterprise models
• Contributing to Data Governance, Data Architecture

Your skills in facilitating and promoting best practice in data product development using the tool sets referred to above will be central to high quality on time delivery. You will be regularly asked to produce strategies and roadmaps to support the enterprise journey to leverage greater value from information.

You should be expert in the data life cycle including ensuring designed in security and confidentiality provisions; open source tool sets such as Hadoop and the common tool sets that are based around it, Python Spark Flume NoSQL and of course the Linux OS.

You need great presence and the ability to present, influence and lead the senior management stakeholders. The ability to bridge the gap between business vision and IT in a simple, clear and effective way, thereby developing winning solutions
