The Company

Our client is a leading regional civil engineering contractor business in the East Midlands. The business is family owned and works with a broad range of regional and national businesses on earthworks, groundworks, foundations and hard landscaping projects that are mainly in the residential sector.

The Requirement

There is a key requirement to recruit an experienced civil engineering Contracts Manager for the business to oversee different client projects across the Midlands and the respective teams involved.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Report to a Construction Director from the company and Site Managers from client businesses (generally residential developers/housebuilders)
  • Ensure all construction activities, site presentation, reporting and communications from every site operative, engineer and supervisor exceed client expectations 
  • Attend site progress meetings as required and instigate regular progress meetings with site teams
  • Make sure site supervision are carrying out their duties, plus have the appropriate resources available to meet programme timelines
  • Work in line with the company’s Health & Safety Policy
  • Joint responsibility for the company’s groundworks, road and sewers work on projects
  • When and where required, undertake duties assigned to site supervisors
  • Complete all required permits and license applications with statutory bodies
  • Ensure all works carried out are covered by measured works or variation works
  • Check and review monthly costs with a QS
  • Produce and issue Microsoft project programmes for each site

Key Expertise/Traits Needed:

  • A notable level of experience in civil engineering sector contracts and project management.
  • Used to handling housebuilder/developer clients and building positive relationships
  • Process driven, very organised and efficient
  • Civil/Ground engineering project management expertise will be within any of the following areas: drainage, roads or infrastructure
