Our client is a successful, private equity owned specialist manufacturer of precision components with a very strong pipeline of current and future business and the potential to grow significantly over the next few years.  Its marketplace is the aerospace and defence sectors, it has a turnover approaching £10m with c 90 colleagues and works from a modern, well-resourced site on a two shift system.

This key role reports to the Managing Director and carries responsibility for all operations. It will appeal to a world-class manufacturing professional who is experienced in lean manufacturing and business transformation who is also capable of further developing a continuous improvement culture through the leadership of an experienced and well-established team. The company has a friendly culture and has lots of potential to improve its operational effectiveness. There is an experienced team in place and the appointed candidate will be expected to introduce sustainable improvements to carry the business forward in the long term, get more flexibility in the way teams work, speed up delivery times, embed a right first time culture, maintain a strong focus on operational excellence and continuous improvement in a structured way and make the best use of data and process information.

You will need to be a highly qualified impressive individual with relevant early experience in a world-class environment and also comfortable working in an ambitious SME such as this. You may have had apprenticeship training or gained a degree in engineering and you will be able to demonstrate success and progression in your career through sustained periods in production, manufacturing engineering, CI and you will currently be in an operations leadership role. 

Some exposure to aerospace customers would be useful as would machine shop and machine tools knowledge and experience. 

Relevant sectors include aerospace, automotive and precision OEM components manufacturing. You will be a leader and motivator, a strong team player and have up to date knowledge of best practice using advanced operational and quality tools. This is a superb opportunity to make your mark on this very successful, high potential company and lots of scope will be offered for you to lead and change its operational culture. The benefits package comprises a highly competitive base salary, strong bonus opportunity and car allowance and you will be expected to reside within the region.
