An Invitation to Join the Board of Trustees of the Metanoia Institute

Metanoia Institute is a dynamic forward-looking higher education establishment with a student complement of over 1,000. All of the Institute’s nineteen degree programmes are registered with the Office for Students and two thirds of the students are enrolled on post-graduate programmes. The Institute is recognised as one of the most successful higher education providers for counselling and psychotherapy in the UK.

Metanoia Institute, founded in 1983, was one of the first institutions to offer professional, humanistic-oriented programmes in psychotherapy and counselling in the United Kingdom. In 1994, the Institute commenced its longstanding and productive collaborative relationship with Middlesex University, the latter being the validating partner. As a mature and successful higher education provider, the Institute is preparing to take on the overall responsibility for these programmes and is at present preparing for degree awarding powers and in time University Title.

Metanoia Institute is governed by a Board of Trustees who are accountable for agreeing the strategic direction of the Institute, for ensuring statutory compliance in respect of data protection, equality and diversity, health and safety, human resources and financial probity. The Institute is financially sound, owns its premises and has charitable status. The Board delegates full responsibility for the day-to-day management to the Chief Executive Officer.   

The Board of Trustees wishes, in preparation for the new powers under DAPs, to strengthen its membership with the appointment of two new Trustees. It seeks one member from within the University Sector that has held senior Board/University Senate positions and a second potential candidate with a background in senior business management and extensive experience in policy making evidencing commercial acumen.
