The Head of Financial Planning & Analysis is accountable for:
Leading and improving the delivery of end to end financial planning and forecasting, such that it is well aligned to, and helps to drive, the strategic direction of the business.

Provide board with key reports and analysis to support the Boards oversight of the performance of the business.

Working closely with the Business Partners to provide MI to drive the delivery of the business strategy

The role has both an internal and external focus and will lead the diligent planning of the annual programme of events, which will include new rolling quarterly forecasts. The role will produce a combined view of insight and analysis and you will need to have strong relationships with the Financial Reporting team, Finance Strategy and other areas such as Investor Relations, Business Partners and the Strategy team.

Purpose statements:

*To lead the financial planning and forecasting processes
*To lead the consolidated KPI reporting and monitoring process, providing relevant and insightful challenge that adds value for the organisation. This includes reporting to key internal and external stakeholders on the consolidated view
*To work with the M&G Executive team to create top down targets for Business Units and consolidate plans into a single business plan and a plan for each legal entity
*To lead the financial planning and analysis team, integrating people and processes into one, digitally enabled way of working
*To develop the capability of the financial planning and analysis team; leading, mentoring and professionally developing people, making best and highest use of talent, fostering a culture of collaboration and promoting and delivering the benefits of working collaboratively
*Work collaboratively with colleagues and take personal accountability to maintain and enhance controls you are responsible for to support improvement of the overall control environment, customer outcomes and a reduction in operational risk
Knowledge statements:
*Strong track record of financial reporting and forecasting within a complex financial services business
*Life and pensions knowledge is essential. With profit, annuities and asset management an advantage.
*Expert level of knowledge of how key factors influence various financial measures
*Expert level knowledge of financial analysis and using it to add commercial value in a large organisation
*Detailed knowledge of regulatory and legislative frameworks
*Expert level knowledge of industry trends, best practice and developments, good networks / links with external bodies and individuals in the same field
*Detailed knowledge of the products, systems and distribution methods

Experience statements:
*Significant experience of financial planning and analysis in a life and pensions organisation and/or asset management
*Significant experience disseminating complex information to stakeholders in an effective way
*Significant experience of leading teams and of providing leadership to technical specialists
*Experience of recommending key financial / business targets, strategic/economic assumptions, and business drivers for financial processes to ensure they are aligned to the business' needs
*Experience of leading a function/team through transformational change

Personal attribute/skills:
*A strong commercial mind-set
*Ability to assimilate large quantities of data to identify material issues and attributes
*Ability to communicate effectively and influence effectively with productive, successful relationships with demanding senior stakeholders
*Proven ability to think strategically yet be comfortable adopting a hands-on approach as needed, and staying close to the detail
*Ability to distil complex ideas or problems into simple, effective plans and solutions

*Relevant professional qualification (Actuary or Accountant with experience working in life reporting) with significant post qualification experience
