Our mission is to make our services better for drivers and the wider public, while helping keep the roads safe. With approximately 5,500 staff and responsible for maintaining over 48 million driver records and almost 40 million vehicle records. Last year we completed over one billion interactions. This included 11.2 million driving licences, 14.2 million vehicle registration certificates, processing 750,000 drivers' medical applications and 14 million telephone calls to our contact centre. Our services are used across the nation by over 40 million drivers, reaching the majority of households in the country.

The role of Chief Technology Officer is a high-profile position with significant visibility and influence within the Agency and across Government. Reporting to the Chief Executive, you will be a key member of the Executive Team and member of the DVLA Board. Having successfully in-sourced our IT function, you will lead the Information Technology directorate of over 750 people, who are at the centre of the transformation of our services. You will lead this highly-skilled team who are building and running the systems needed to deliver best-in-class digital services. The Chief Technology Officer will lead some of the most innovative digital programmes of recent decades, centred on new technologies such as driverless cars.

We are seeking Board level technologist who can inspire, lead and develop a team if IT professionals at the cutting edge of Government's digital agenda. You will bring significant experience in the successful delivery of digitally-led transformations, gained in highly transactional, complex organisations. A strong and visible leader, you will quickly command the respect of Government as a highly effective ambassador for your Agency and profession.
