Robert Walters: Head of Finance - Central Birmingham

I am currently recruiting for a Head of Finance, on a permanent basis within the Central Birmingham area for a unique business offering the opportunity to be involved in highly commercial elements of financial provision as well as remaining close to the fundamentals of accounting and team management. The salary for this position is between £45,000 and £55,000 per annum depending on the candidate as well as an exceptional benefits offering.

Please note: It is essential that the ideal candidate has ACA, CIMA, ACCA or CIPFA qualification and experience within a highly regulated organisation and experience within a similar role.

Salary: Between £45,000 and £55,000 per annum depending on experience plus an outstanding package

Essential Requirements of Head of Finance:

  • ACA, ACCA, CIMA or CIPFA qualified
  • Experience in Grants and Funding
  • Ability to manage a team of qualified and part-qualified accountants through their own development
  • Highly motivated, energetic and ambitious to progress
  • Proven people management skills with an ability to develop team members
  • Ability to communicate and influence senior stakeholders
  • Ability to analyse and evaluate information
  • High numeric and analytical skills
  • Capability to communicate oral and written information logically in a format suitable for senior management

Requirements of Head of Finance:

  • Utilise expertise in Grants and Funding to establish the service delivery across the team
  • Management of a small team including mentoring, allocation of tasks and regular performance reviews
  • Utilise the Salesforce system
  • Governance of business risks and monitoring control over sector balance sheets, monthly control reporting to flag risks to the sectors
  • Hold responsibility for procurement finance requirements
  • Deal with planning and business responsibility requirements for finance
  • Work with 3rd sector organisations
  • Handle month end, yearend and audit requirements
  • Understand the workings of a public sector organisations

The ideal candidate for this position will be personable, have a strong commercial acumen and advanced Excel skills.
