Chief Executive Officer
Chief Executive Officer
South Tees Site Company (STSC) and South Tees Development Corporation (STDC)
Are you ready to help drive forward an economic renaissance in the UK’s single largest regeneration site?
If you share our passion for the potential of the Tees Valley and are ready to lead the delivery of the vision of a high value, low carbon, diverse and circular economy, we would like to hear from you.
Covering 4,500 acres, our site is six times the size of the City of London and has the potential to become a world leading industrial park. The site boasts England’s third largest port, its own rail network and excellent infrastructure around utilities and raw materials. In short, it offers an industrial opportunity unique in the UK. The vision is for the delivery of 20,000 jobs and a contribution of £1bn to the local and national economy.
South Tees Site Company and South Tees Development Corporation are seeking a joint Chief Executive Officer responsible for the strategic leadership of the redevelopment of the Tees Valley site.
The South Tees Site Company
The South Tees Site Company (STSC) is a government body responsible for the management of the former SSI steelworks site. It is also completing a large-scale engineering project to decontaminate the site.
The South Tees Development Corporation
The South Tees Development Corporation (STDC) is the first Mayoral Development Corporation to be set up outside of Greater London. Its aim is to promote business growth and economic development in the Tees Valley, providing a perfect hub for advanced manufacturing and innovative technologies.
You will lead the first Mayoral Development Corporation outside London. This is a high profile, career-defining opportunity. You will need to engage with, secure interest from and lead negotiations with prospective investors, commercial occupiers, landowners and major business interests to maximise the potential for regeneration, inward investment and economic growth.
You will also build a culture and vision of high performance and effective financial management and ensure that the business strategy is translated into achievable plans, overseeing engineering excellence, safety and security on site.
For this critically important post we need a truly exceptional person. You will need to be a highly driven, self-motivated and strategic leader. You should have experience of leading significant change projects from concept to sign off and have a track record in securing inward investment. We need an individual with a strong understanding of industrial strategy, and the ability to maximise the economic potential of the site. The ability to work with multiple stakeholders and strong influencing skills are fundamental and the individual must possess substantial gravitas and credibility.
We are interested in hearing from people from a wide range of backgrounds, but as a minimum we will expect that you can demonstrate senior executive level experience across both the public and the private sectors.
