The Role
Reporting to the Engineering Director, the role is responsible to the Engineering Authority, with product design, build and safety assurance for all products and services across the organisation. With revenues of over £1.3bn and circa 3,000 employees, this division is responsible for delivering significantly complex and high-value engineering programmes of national strategic importance.
A key leadership and stakeholder influencing position, which will impact the roles of a large team of Product Assurance experts, your role is to ensure the necessary product design, build and safety assurance is in place – across all programmes and across the organisation’s sites. You will work closely with a broad range of senior stakeholders – such as Chief Engineers, and functions – including design, production and site teams.

An experienced Engineering Leader, you will have a proven and successful track record in leading an engineering design team and function, and ideally an assurance function as well. This experience will have been developed in the Aerospace and Defence sector, or related complex high-risk engineering-led environments such as the Nuclear, Flight Safety, Rail and Oil & Gas industries.
You will be adept at providing inspirational direction to a culturally diverse group of engineering professionals working on major programme delivery in a time-sensitive, safety-critical, and complex engineering environment. Your attributes will include:
- Global perspective, recognising and leveraging cultural diversity
- Trusted advisor and subject matter expert in relation to engineering design and assurance
- Proven and forward thinking leader that generates new ideas
- Ability to build relationships based on trust
- Collaborative, constructive and motivational leadership style
- Strong mentoring, coaching and communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels
- Degree in Operations Management or Project Management and relevant professional qualifications
The role offers an excellent base salary and benefits package, and relocation assistance.
