The successful appointee will lead the business and with the support of the senior management team, be responsible for the commercial and operational success of the business, making a significant contribution to the performance of the Group.

Overview of Role

The General Manager will oversee the successful functioning of the Customer Services, Technical, Marketing, Purchasing and Manufacturing Departments. The General Manager will drive continuous improvement throughout these departments to support sales and profit growth.

Key roles and responsibilities:

  • Oversee the daily operation of the business units;
  • Act as direct line manager for the departmental managers / heads;
  • Create constructive practices and interpersonal relationships within and between departments;
  • Execute the company’s strategic plan;
  • Manage the delivery and quality of the company’s offer;
  • Ensure the development of people, processes and assets to support the business’s growth.

The Candidate

The successful candidate will:

  • Be a generalist; familiar with all areas of the business, including finance, accounts, operations, sales & marketing, HR and technical;
  • Have a proven track record of managing multi-disciplinary teams in a building products manufacturing environment;
  • Have previously held P & L responsibility;
  • Be accustomed to operating at senior management level;
  • Have a high level of numeracy and strong analytical ability;
  • Be passionate about improving the customer’s experience;
  • Have a proven ability to assess priorities against known strategic and business objectives;
  • Have experience of strong cost control in a multi-site environment;
  • Be able to demonstrate strong leadership and people management skills.
