European IT Director - Warsaw

A global, digital organisation in the financial services sector is seeking an IT Director to lead and deliver IT strategy for its Europe region. 

Reporting to the Global CIO, you will play a major role in delivering the regional IT strategy within the context of the global IT strategy, providing federated, end-to-end IT services to the region, whilst also drawing upon a number of Group shared service functions. The role will lead a team of c150 + third parties, distributed across 4 key European markets.

Key accountabilities:

  • Build a sustainable IT team with resources across Solution delivery, Operations and Support, Infrastructure and PMO, based upon a clear locational strategy & skills availability
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with your key business leaders and partners and ensure that IT and the business are aligned and work as one team
  • Establish a clear partner strategy that demonstrates a cost efficient balance between internal and external resources
  • Ensure that the team are output driven and look to provide tangible, visible results to the business — meeting and exceeding agreed business targets
  • Ensure that there is a first class service delivered to HC markets with no degradation in SLAs
  • Drive standardisation in the IT estate across markets, reducing complexity
  • Drive and embed Agile working practices throughout the European IT organisation

The ideal candidate, you will have:

  • Significant experience as an IT leader within a large multinational organisation with a complex IT landscape and structure, ideally with experience of European / International markets
  • Experience of leading scaled and distributed teams, navigating complexity across multiple functions, business units and/or geographies
  • Experience of Target Operating Model transformation, realigning organisation structure to ensure teams are fit for purpose and the right people are in the right roles
  • Experience of managing executive teams and driving conversations with influence at a strategic level, making change transparent throughout the business
  • Experience of working within a group structure
  • Significant budgetary responsibility
  • Experience with multiple delivery techniques; Waterfall, Agile
  • Willingness and ability to travel (minimum of 30% of time) to work directly with key stakeholders and spend time across all European markets
  • Business fluent in English
