Finance and Delivery Director
DFID leads the UK’s work to end extreme poverty, deliver the global goals, and tackle global challenges in line with the government’s UK Aid Strategy. Our aid budget is spent on tackling the great global challenges – from the root causes of mass migration and disease, to the threat of terrorism and global climate change – all of which also directly threaten British interests. We are ending the need for aid by building peaceful and stable societies, creating jobs and strong economies, fighting corruption, unlocking the potential of girls and women, tackling climate change and helping to save lives when humanitarian emergencies hit. We are doing this because it is both the right thing to do and firmly in Britain’s national interest.
Our Finance and Delivery Director is a high profile, challenging and rewarding leadership role working across the organisation, engaging with key stakeholders internally and across government, externally and internationally. We lead the Government’s commitment to spend 0.7% of Gross National Income on Overseas Development Assistance and have the potential to make a significant impact on DFID’s future direction and therefore the lives of some of the poorest people in the world.
Achieving this calls for excellent financial, professional and leadership skills, allied to strong business knowledge and understanding, and an understanding of a wide range of policy and operational contexts, as DFID operates in some of the most challenging places in the world. You will be joining a highly motivated and delivery focused leadership team and be a part of the wider corporate governance and leadership of DFID. This is a pivotal, high profile, challenging and rewarding leadership role at the heart of DFID and you will be joining at a key time to lead our financial strategy during a Spending Review year. Experience in Government and the International Development sector would be a significant advantage and a connection to our vision and values is key.
