Head of Engineering - Java, Azure, IoT, API's

Head of Engineering with experience of Java, Azure, IoT and API's needed to join a major technology provider as they embark on a major project building brand new hardware devices for an innovative IoT product. The Head of Engineering will have extensive experience in a Java environment which will encompass microservices, API Development, and cloud platforms - specifically Microsoft Azure. Previous IoT experience would be a huge bonus for this Head of Engineering position but is not a prerequisite.

Head of Engineering responsibilities:

Leading the strategy, planning, and delivery of the development and infrastructure teamsAccountable for technical architecture, service design and data model design - manage through to deliveryScrum Master delivery, ensuring development is prioritised and delivered appropriatelyManage relationships with technical delivery partners i.e. Microsoft, Offshore Delivery Partner, Device ProvidersEnsuring the delivery of design and documentation of interfaces and APIsDesign of technical integration with client systemsThe input to and review of product designsSupporting clients and partners with integration to system interfacesTechnical implementation reviewDesired skills & experience:

Working using agile methods/deliveryExperience of designing end-to-end solution architectures encompassing large scale cloud and consumer appsLeading design and delivery of system interfaces (restful and subscription APIs, JSON)Excellent understanding/experience of using JavaExperience of cloud service providers/architectures (Microsoft Azure Cloud Platform)Experience working with digital (app) technologies, across all platformsAble to formulate and deliver strategies/plans, self-motivated with significant experience of managing and leading multi-functional technical teams
