Location Berkshire / Buckinghamshire borders - Day Rate Circa £500 /£550 per day
Software Development Manager / Head of Software Development required to build an, agile, high performing predominately Microsoft ( .Net, SQL) development team on either a contract or permanent basis! Our Client is a niche market leader, based on the Berkshire / Buckinghamshire Border (Reading, Maidenhead, High Wycombe, Wokingham). While you will come from a software development background and be able to talk to developers in their language your coding days are probably behind you. Your passion and expertise are centred upon building productive teams and helping people to work better together.

The role of Software Development Manager / Head of Development is pivotal in shaping the Client's future plans and they want a great person, available to start quickly, whether on a contract or permanent basis. The proposition will therefore suit anyone with the right capabilities whether you are a contractor who has parachuted in on several occasions or whether you are looking for a permanent long term, career defining opportunity that could lead to Director level responsibility in the future! We would expect the right person for the role will have upwards of 10 years' IT experience with at least the last 3 years being spent in a Software Development Manager / Head of Development role with specific experience to include:

• Excellent people leadership skills

  • Building small, agile, high performing teams (10/20 people)
• Experience implementing change / managing departmental growing pains
  • Balancing creativity and best endeavours with the need for structure and process
  • Successful implementation of Agile methods and Agile thinking
  • Implementing great / consistent testing, release and support
• Customer first philosophy
  • Ensuring products meet Client needs and aspirations
  • Providing an Account / Commercial Management interface
• Software product development experience
  • Significant experience managing the application development lifecycle cycle i.e. development, testing, delivery and support.
  • Strong understanding of the Microsoft development framework
  • Significant Experience introducing / leveraging / deploying new technology
  • A background that includes exposure to C#, .Net and SQL Server or Oracle might be useful but to be clear this is NOT a position for someone who still codes / wants to code.

In return for your experience running development departments, you can expect a day rate, dependent on your level of experience, of circa £500/550 per day.
