Chief Financial Officer
Our client is a market leading, privately owned company providing training and education services to both individuals and business customers. The company now generates revenue of £20m through independent divisions, operating internationally across a growing number of territories. The company employs nearly 200 staff and is headquartered in Central London.
To support the continuing growth strategy, we are seeking to recruit a strategic and commercially driven CFO to complement the existing management team. Reporting to the CEO and working with Board and senior operational management, this is a key appointment to enable the business to reach the next stage in its ambitious growth plans. The CFO will have responsibility for an established finance function, leading and developing this team as well as adding significant strategic input. This is a wide-ranging role, requiring someone capable of managing the divisions on a day to day basis and working with the senior management and shareholders in driving the business strategically. The CFO will be instrumental in developing a strategy to finance the expansion in both existing and new markets. Additionally, the CFO will have broader operational and commercial responsibility.
Candidates will need to be qualified accountants able to demonstrate a proven track record as CFO. A broad commercial skill set is required, ideally gained in a similar sector and within an SME environment. Prior experience raising finance to support a growing business is essential, with exposure to government and public sector clients also being highly desirable. You will need to be comfortable operating in a fast paced environment, working closely with a senior management team to add commercial and strategic value and offering insight and challenge on all business decisions. Priority will be given to those candidates with experience in corporate finance, including M&A and financing. Other essential characteristics for the role include high levels of emotional intelligence, strong commercial acumen, flexibility and self-assurance.
