King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UK’s largest and busiest teaching hospitals with a turnover of c£1 billion, 1.5 million patient contacts a year and more than 11,500 staff based across 5 main sites in South East London. The Trust provides a full range of local hospital services across its different sites, and specialist services from King’s College Hospital (KCH) sites at Denmark Hill in Camberwell and at the Princess Royal University Hospital (PRUH) site in Bromley.  

King’s College Hospital is currently delivering an ambitious financial efficiency programme for 2018/19 and beyond with the aim to achieve long-term financial sustainability. The Trust appointed a substantive CFO, Lorcan Woods, in July 2018 and over the last 4 months the Finance Department has been undertaking an exciting Finance Transformation programme.

The Deputy CFO will support the CFO and Executive Team in developing and delivering the Trust’s strategy and in improving the Trust’s financial efficiency and performance. They will have corporate responsibility for the following teams: Financial Strategy and Planning, Financial Management Information and Analysis, Continuous Improvement and Business Partnering. They will provide day-to-day leadership to the finance team and will be responsible to the CFO for delivery of the required financial support, challenge and analysis.

The successful candidate must be a robust, credible, professionally qualified accountant with exemplary leadership skills, high standards and strong attention to detail. You must be a naturally strategic thinker, and a robust, clear communicator to enable you to build effective relationships and influence challenging individuals at all levels, in and out of the organisation.

Your significant post-qualification experience will have been gained within the NHS as either an experienced Deputy Director of Finance, and it would be beneficial if you have Management Consulting or Arms Length Body experience.
