Our client is a leading international industrial Group with revenues of c.£2bn and extensive operations internationally with a particular focus on Europe, South Africa and Asia.

A new Group CFO has recently been appointed and is implementing an organisational change plan to further develop and grow the business. As such, we are assisting in the transformation of the finance function, including the recruitment of a Director of FP&A role to report directly into the newly created Group Commercial Finance Director position.

The business has not experienced FP&A / the value of a Commercial Finance function before, so this new hire will be crucial for the development, management and continuous evolution of the FP&A function. The FP&A team will define and articulate annual performance objectives. This will include economically sound concepts and tools that will enable the company to formulate an effective business strategy to then translate this into tangible business results across all regions. The Director of FP&A will outline annual performance objectives for the FP&A partners, in agreement with senior stakeholders, as well as define, own, run, and improve the overall budgeting and forecasting process across the Group. Additionally, it is the Director of FP&A’s responsibility to ensure FP&A processes are consistent with best practice, relevant policies and processes are up to date, and to instigate improvement initiatives as well as budget guidelines and expectations on behalf of the Executive team.

The successful candidate will be a graduate and qualified accountant, with previous leadership experience working in a similar global matrix organisation. You should have a proven track record in financial planning and analysis, as well as experience of working in a similar, dynamic business environment. You should also be adept at managing multiple business relationships across a global matrix and be able to handle the ambiguity that arises in a complex, diverse and geographically widespread organisation. To be successful in this role, you will need to be someone who promotes new behaviour and empowerment, and establish an environment where continuous improvement is a way of life. Self-awareness, courage to challenge and partner in a healthy and respectful way, strong commercial acumen and understanding customer priorities and needs are all essential to this role.
