The Joseph Rowntree Foundation, (JRF) and the Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust, (JRHT), are two linked charities which share common trustees, governance committees and a vision of a prosperous, poverty-free UK. JRF is an independent social change organisation working to solve UK poverty, spending around £10m a year on influencing, research and changing attitudes. It is also a housing association and care provider, JRHT, in York and north-east England.

JRF/JRHT is currently recruiting a number of Independent Members to strengthen the governance committees. For this recruitment we are looking for individuals to join the Audit & Risk Committee and the Resources Committee. As an independent you would play an important role in supporting, challenging and advising both Trustees and Executive Directors. This is a challenging time for charities from across the sector, and specifically for JRF/JRHT as the organisations modernise and transform their ways of working.

We are looking for dynamic individuals who will share JRF/JRHT’s vision, whilst also sharing the knowledge, experience and passion that ensures that they can deliver. Independent Members need to be able to challenge the JRF/JRHT Executive in a constructive and collaborative way and with a focus on reaching good-quality shared decisions. Individuals need to be strong communicators with the ability to build solid relationships with fellow committee members and senior staff.
