Not all learning happens in the classroom. Young people need other experiences and opportunities to help them unlock their potential and be ready for their world.
The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award is a global non-formal education framework which operates in more than 130 countries and territories, helping inspire young people to dream big, celebrate their achievements and make a difference in their world through developing skills, getting physically active, giving service, and experiencing adventure. Since its launch over 60 years ago, the Award has inspired millions of young people to transform their lives.
The organisation is at a seminal moment - in line with our current strategy to improve access for new and diverse groups of young people whilst increasing the social infrastructure and geographic reach of the Award, we are anticipating large scale growth in all areas of our organisation. This presents considerable opportunities to change and influence ways of working across our business operations and those of our whole network.
We are currently seeking a new Finance Director who will act as the prime guardian of the Award Foundation and its financial assets, being responsible for all financial and fiscal management aspects of our operations. The role provides leadership and coordination in the administrative, business planning, accounting, financial control and budgeting efforts of The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Foundation, and also services the Trustees in the capacity of company secretary – informing the Board of Trustees on organisational progress, finances, information management and risk. Depending on experience, the role may also hold responsibility for the charity’s Information Management function to ensure that the digital services provided to the Foundation and its associated Award Operators around the world are fit for purpose and complimentary to their operations and growth.
We are looking for an experienced finance professional and leader who demonstrates sound judgement, analytical and strategic capabilities alongside strong relationship building skills, creativity, and an enthusiastic and motivational approach to leading a small and busy team and to influencing more broadly. The successful candidate must evidence cultural sensitivity and both the gravitas and humility to work at all levels internationally. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead within an operation with an extraordinary reach and impact on young generations internationally, today and for the future.
If you identify with our mission and ambition, have the requisite experience and attributes, and wish to join our dynamic team, then we look forward to hearing from you.
