Job Details

Borough Market is London’s oldest and most famous food market and has been serving its community for a thousand years. We are now looking for a Director of Finance to help to ensure that it continues and evolves in that vital function, long into the future. The successful candidate will be joining at a particularly exciting point in Borough Market’s long history. Following the completion of a lengthy and highly demanding railway infrastructure project, the Trust has for the past few years been able to turn its focus to the next phase of the Market’s development. You will join a strong and well-established executive team that is now tackling some of the bigger questions about Borough Market’s function, both in the local community and in the wider world.

The Director of Finance will be accountable for the administrative, financial, and risk management operations of Borough Market Trust and the trading subsidiary Borough Market Business Limited (BMBL). The role has primary responsibility for planning, implementing, managing and controlling all financial-related activities including the development of financial and operational strategies. As a key member of the Corporate Management team, the Director of Finance will report to the Managing Director and assume a strategic role in the overall management of the Trust and BMBL.

We are looking for a dynamic leader with a proven track record in strategic, operational and treasury finance, ideally gained in the charity sector. The new Director will need to be experienced in financial control and risk management and bring a proven track record leading commercial negotiations and major spending decisions.
