Based in London

A London local authority is looking for a Head of Joint Commissioning for Mental Health and Wellbeing to provide strategic leadership and effective senior management across the Adults department by leading on the development of joint commissioning arrangements for Mental Health and Wellbeing of people within the council.

Main Responsibilities:

  • To work in close partnership with the Mental Health Provider, whilst representing the Council's values and priorities to ensure the service meets the needs of the service users
  • Lead a transformation of mental health commissioning for the council and CCG that will improve mental health and social care outcomes for people, instead of focusing on maintaining current service arrangements
  • Lead continuous improvement and transformation of services, developing an innovative and commercial approach within the service area
  • Develop effective partnerships and collaborative working, including with Children's services and acute providers to ensure a whole system approach is adopted at all times and patients receive a holistic Mental Health service
  • Make strategic links across the partnership to ensure effective matrix working on key issues for mental health and wellbeing
  • Oversee the implementation of the Joint Strategy for Wellbeing and Mental Health across health and social care

Key Skills:

  • Ability to provide strategic and operational leadership to ensure maximum efficiency of the service
  • Strong staff management experience
  • Previously worked in a local authority or CCG within a joint commissioning team
  • Substantial experience of strategic planning and decision-making
  • Proven ability to work fluidly in ambiguous circumstances
