Cancer Research UK Cambridge Institute (CRUK CI) is changing the world by bringing scientific strengths to bear on practical questions of cancer diagnosis, treatment and prevention. This is your opportunity to contribute in the strategic leadership role of Director of Operations/COO, reporting directly to the Institute Director Professor Greg Hannon.
As a joint strategic initiative between the University of Cambridge and Cancer Research UK, CRUK CI is the University’s largest research institute employing over 430 staff. As Director of Operations/COO, you will lead a multi-disciplinary portfolio of professional services via 9 direct reports spanning operations, facilities, HR, IT, finance and administration amongst others. The role will work interdependently with the Institute Director in order to provide vision, strategic direction and leadership for the Institute’s operations. The Director of Operations/COO will find solutions, show a proactive approach to problem solving and have an unwavering commitment to putting in place the operational infrastructure for world-leading research to take place.
The Director of Operations/COO will possess significant leadership experience amassed in a complex organisation, ideally from a range of sectors. You will have a track record of harnessing the benefits of leading an integrated portfolio of services with evidence of high-level planning activity to support strategic decision making. As Director of Operations/COO, you will have excellent project and change management skills coupled with a leadership style that inspires those around you.
