The Chief Information Officer (CIO) is a new role which will play a pivotal role in reshaping how our organisation provides care in a variety of settings from people’s homes to in-patient units and schools.

As an organisation SCFT is committed to improving how it works and has introduced a Trust-wide programme of Quality Improvement, which is already delivering tangible results for our patients and staff. The CIO will be instrumental in supporting the Trust as it continues its journey from ‘Good to Great’ with new and improved technology supporting more flexible and efficient ways of working.

Overseeing the digital transformation programme, the CIO will help to improve the experience of internal stakeholders as well as our patients and service users.

Accountable to the Chief Executive, the Trust is now seeking to appoint a CIO who will be responsible for the overall delivery of digital and Informatics capabilities across the organisation. The appointee will also oversee all the IT / technology resources, which are based in Brighton.

The Opportunity:

  • Lead the development and delivery of the Digital Technology Strategy for the Trust, enabling service transformation in order to improve patient experience
  • Ensure that the Digital Technology Strategy and its delivery plan are sensitive to and take into consideration specific requirements, clinical and business priorities
  • Engage with stakeholders to warrant effective clinical input into and support for the development and implementation of strategy and plans
  • Manage the ongoing development of performance management systems that make it easier for managers and clinicians to understand how effectively services are operating
  • Take direct responsibility for the management and professional leadership of more than 50 staff, working across several departments
  • Assume annual budgetary responsibility of revenue and capital spend including delivery of cost improvement programmes for the Trust

Background and Experience:

  • Substantial and wide-ranging experience at director level in large, complex customer-facing organisations - healthcare or other sectors with comparable complexities and shared service delivery pressures
  • Proven track record in developing and implementing technology strategies to achieve transformational levels of change and efficiency
  • Significant management experience of implementing complex programmes, encompassing technology and clinical services
  • Experience of developing and managing a sizeable, value-adding IT function within a large organisation, with the motivational skills to encourage collaborative working across the technology landscape
  • Experienced in developing data quality solutions in a complex environment, with significant negotiation and contract management experience
