Finance Director

We are seeking an exceptional Finance Director to join Brunel University’s senior membership team to play a key strategic role during an exciting period of transformation.

Brunel University is a world-class educational institution offering a wide range of courses in London, with over c.12,900 students and c.2,500 staff, and a total income of c.£216 million (2017/18).

The main purpose of the role is to lead the Finance Department and support the CFO to develop and deliver the University’s financial strategy and targets. This will entail supporting the University executive team, providing timely advice to optimise income and expenditure and identify investment requirement to help deliver the 2030 Mission and Vision.

The role will lead the Finance Team and proactively transition the function, driving internal excellence, best practice business partnering and growth.

The diverse aspects of the role include the oversight of: financial planning and analysis, management accounting and reporting, compliance and statutory requirements, investment evaluation, as well as managing external interfaces with banks and other financial institutions.

You will need to be a fully qualified accountant (CCAB or equivalent) with strong leadership, transformation and strategic skills. Whilst sector experience is not a requisite, you will need to have gained relative experience from within a similarly complex organisation and have a genuine interest in working at a university.
