Interim Insurance Specialist (Financial and Professional services team)

Fixed-Term contract, 4 months

Insurance is one of the key sub sectors within financial services, particularly for exports. This role will drive forward the delivery of our strategy and sector plan for insurance, in particular, focusing not just on our traditional offering but also on new insurance products such as cyber insurance and insurtech – an area of increasing growth where we are currently not sufficiently resourced to leverage the opportunity.

The role will also focus on ensuring we continue to have the right trade and promotion focus after EU Exit, taking into account the impact on the sector after our departure from the EU.

Job Specifications

Duties will involve meeting the relevant external stakeholders both domestically and in our key markets to scope trade (predominantly) and investment opportunities, qualify leads, support trade missions including through providing expert content for speaking slots and curating relevant panel sessions. The individual will also facilitate introductions to companies and contacts that DIT would otherwise not have access to.

Personal Specifications

We are looking for someone with in-depth technical knowledge across both the domestic and global market (to support post EU Exit work) and who has a wide range of contacts across the insurance community. The specialist will play a key role in driving DIT’s insurance trade and investment promotion strategy, with the range of contacts associated with such a position and the ability to represent DIT credibly with industry and Whitehall stakeholders.
