The Company

Our client is a well established and reputable PE-backed support and engineering services company based in Yorkshire and the Midlands with revenues of £50m and an EBITDA of circa 10%. As part of their ongoing expansion, they are now searching for a FD/CFO who will lead the finance function and mentor the Financial Controller. This is an ideal role for an experienced, FD/CFO who enjoys working hands-on and is looking to further their career in a PE-backed business.

The Role

As the business continues its growth, so there is a requirement to upskill the finance function by hiring an experienced FD/CFO who will be responsible for the entire finance function and provide strategic insight and Management Information too.

Main Responsibilities

  • Finance team management, managing a team of 5
  • Ensure that all of the company's financial practices are in line in statutory regulations and legislation
  • Analyse market trends to assist senior executives in creating strategic plans for the future
  • Assist in company-wide budgetary planning
  • Oversee, review, and adhere to the budgets and costings for each business department
  • Interpret complex financial information and provide updates and information as needed
  • Manage the financial relationship with the PE house
  • Manage treasury function, risk management and company insurances, agreements and licenses
  • Monitor cash flow, accounts, and other financial transactions
  • Supervise financial assistants and other employees in the facilitation of day-to-day operations, including tracking financial data, invoicing, payroll, etc.
  • Create management reporting and performance measuring practices
  • Seek out methods and practices to minimise financial risk
  • Contract auditing services to ensure financial monitoring is up-to-date
  • Create and maintain relationships with service providers and contractors, including banking institutions and accountants
  • Update and implement financial policies and procedures
  • IT strategy and security
  • Company secretary and formal director responsibilities
  • Cross border rules and regulation and legal

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Background in a support services, engineering or manufacturing businesses 
  • Must have the versatility and talent to be involved in decision making at a director level
  • Strong commercial acumen and evidence of input into helping to drive the growth agenda
  • Graduate 
  • ACA/FCA or ACCA/FCCA qualified
  • Track record of effectively leading and managing successful finance teams
  • Ability to work with a small management team to deliver business growth
  • Experience in Private Equity is highly beneficial
  • Understanding of accountancy and data privacy standards
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and ability to influence internal and external stakeholders
  • Thorough understanding of business principles and practices
  • Superior attention to detail
  • Ability to deliver routine and ad hoc reports and projects to deadlines
  • Desire to improve systems and processes
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Successfully managed banking and shareholder relationships
  • IT literate
  • Excellent Excel and financial systems knowledge including Sage

Package

The salary will be commensurate with experience but the package will consist of a competitive base salary of £100k to £120k, equity and benefits.
