Operations Director, South of Bristol to £90,000, car, substantial potential bonus, LTIP
Our client has enjoyed consistent double-digit sales growth, established itself as a leading brand in its marketplace, has revenues of nearly £50 million and has a multi-channel proposition. Supported by an acquisitive PLC with a worldwide distribution network export sales are also growing resulting in an operational infrastructure in need of a strategic review to determine its optimal configuration to support the business both for the present and to be “best in class” for the future.
With a sophisticated sourcing model from the Far East and assembly in the UK, the business now has a number of sites across the South West providing warehousing, dispatch and production support to the business. Reporting to the Chief Executive and supported by a team the Operations Director to be appointed will have a primary focus on performance delivery across all of the areas and will be driven to both identify and implement improvement initiatives. Providing leadership and direction to one of the largest headcounts in the business the successful candidate will have a proven record of mentoring, leading and developing a team in a “fast paced” environment with a collegiate culture needing to better understand what “best in class” looks like. He / she will assess processes and working practices and re-engineer to achieve maximum efficiency and effectiveness, will work with his / her direct reports to implement improvement initiatives and set, monitor and review KPI’s with the team. As a board member, the Operations Director will input to the overall company direction and strategy.
Pivotal to the role and to the future success of the business is the establishment of an optimal warehousing infrastructure in the next three years and it is essential that the individual to be appointed can demonstrate a previous contribution to the strategic realignment of an operational infrastructure to maximise efficiency and optimise cash and working capital management. The Operations Director will clearly possess the attributes to contribute at board level and will be tasked to develop plans for the ongoing expansion of Operations in line with company growth targets. He / she will work across the business and in particular with purchasing on “Make or Buy” decisions and with Product and Marketing to understand the full cost / operational cost of Product Strategy. The successful candidate will engage the team to run regular open team sessions and will lead by example in areas such as personal character, commitment, organisational and communication skills and work habits. This is a great opportunity for a well-rounded operations professional ideally familiar with a sourcing model from the Far East and preferably with experience in a “fast paced” sector serving a demanding “blue-chip” customer base.
