A successful retail business based in Bedfordshire are looking for an experienced Head of Finance to lead and oversee the financial services arm of the business.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Working alongside the MD and Leadership team for Financial Services, shaping and implementing the overall strategy
  • Support the MD in monthly and quarterly business performance reviews and ensuring follow through on actions and execution to drive business performance
  • Develop the strategic plan for the region backed up by an annual operating plan that delivers both growth in revenue, profit and cash contribution
  • Be the commercial conscience of the organisation in relation to the evaluation of the competitiveness of the business in market, the pricing of product and services, deal structure and revenue recognition
  • Lead the financial planning and analysis for a set of new products
  • Work with Marketing on implementation of promotions to ensure that promotional pricing is consistent with the overall pricing strategy
  • Reporting and timely closure of each financial period with accuracy: including ensuring accurate revenue recognition, cost accounting and cash flow
  • Drive the cost leadership agenda in the region
  • Develop strategic direction, governance, regulatory compliance and risk
  • Attending and leading the financial aspects of Divisional and Group Senior Management Meetings
  • Challenging management of cost control and continuing to push for greater savings and cost efficiencies across both Divisions
  • Ensuring that the general processes and controls enable the division to maximise performance and minimise risk
  • Taking overall responsibility for the finance department of high growth subsidiaries - attending Board meetings and delivering process improvements and more efficient working practices as necessary
  • Developing a thorough understanding of the key insurance contracts with our major insurance counterparts attending key meetings when necessary
  • Developing a deep understanding of the regulated aspects of the Financial Services Division and ensuring it is compliant and any associated risk is minimised
  • Working with our offshore finance provider, and other third-party suppliers to improve the services provided to and reduce ongoing costs
  • Where appropriate, to make acquisitions and integrate them

Candidate Profile:

  • Degree calibre and Qualified ACCA, CIMA or ACA
  • Extensive knowledge of presenting financial results and developing Management Information, as well as experience in the integration of acquisitions or business divisions
  • Strong leadership and problem-solving experience
  • Financial Services Experience would be a distinct advantage and is preferred
  • Demonstrable expertise in IFRS
