The Directorate-General for Competition is primarily responsible for the direct enforcement of EU competition rules: ensuring that markets work better by making companies compete equally and fairly on their merits. Its work benefits consumers, businesses and the European economy as a whole. Within the Directorate-General, Operational Directorates form part of a matrix structure where the different competition areas (antitrust, mergers and State aid) are managed around key sectors of the economy.

Your responsibilities:

  • To co-ordinate ex-post evaluation of competition policy and enforcement
  • To contribute to prospective analysis and research on competition enforcement tools and practices
  • To engage with National Competition Authorities and academia to foster best practices on ex-post evaluation and prospective analysis of competition policies and enforcement

Your skills:

  • Excellent knowledge of competition policy and enforcement, including the underlying economic and legal principles
  • Sound experience of handling competition cases in the areas of antitrust, mergers or State aid
  • Demonstrated capacity to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders

The European Commission applies an active equal opportunities policy aimed at further increasing the share of women in management functions and it particularly encourages applications from women.
