(Temporary assignment for three years, renewable for a maximum of two years)

Directorate-General for Competition
COM/2018/10383

The Directorate-General for Competition is primarily responsible for the direct enforcement of EU competition rules: ensuring that markets work better by making companies compete equally and fairly on their merits. Its work benefits consumers, businesses and the European economy as a whole. Within the Directorate-General, Operational Directorates form part of a matrix structure where the different competition areas (antitrust, mergers and State aid) are managed around key sectors of the economy.

Your responsibilities:

  • To evaluate the economic impact of the Directorate-General’s actions across mergers, antitrust and State aid
  • To provide guidance on methodological issues of economics and econometrics in the application of EU competition rules
  • To deliver detailed input into important competition cases involving complex economic issues, including sophisticated quantitative analysis

Your skills:

  • Expert knowledge of analysing the economic aspects of competition
issues, backed by a solid academic record
  • Proven ability to manage a team of highly skilled economists
  • Demonstrated capacity to communicate efficiently and effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • The European Commission applies an active equal opportunities policy aimed at further increasing the share of women in management functions and it particularly encourages applications from women.

Please consult the Official Journal C 460 A of 21 December 2018 for the detailed vacancy notice as well as the eligibility and selection criteria.

The closing date for registration is 15 February 2019, 12.00 noon Brussels time.
