About the Role

A number of Interim Category Lead and Procurement Lead vacancies have arisen, accountable for overseeing our major contracts and procurement strategy for our LU Modernisation Programme, where modernising our assets is key to ensuring we keep London moving. This includes anything from buying the spare parts for our trains, to the management of £multi million asset contracts.

Leading and motivating a dynamic team of up to 30 procurement professionals, you’ll determine and embed the Procurement and Commercial Contract Management strategy that Procurement and the business adopt for the category they are leading. You’ll develop and maintain close working relationships with key business leaders within London Underground, acting as a strategic advisor, whilst also identifying greater efficiencies in delivery and driving greater productivity.

You’ll lead the selection and management of 3rd party suppliers/contractors within your category, through the deployment of suitably qualified and experienced procurement resources, good governance, effective commercial practices and strong supplier relationships. Alongside this and key to the role will be ensuring that you draw the most value from the 3rd party relationships with a continuous aim to drive efficiencies.

About You

You’ll be inquisitive by nature with a strong commitment to seeking out and developing innovative ideas and ways of working to reduce end to end cost, whilst drawing on your comprehensive knowledge and understanding of EU and UK legislation and regulations covering commercial activities.

We are looking for influential procurement experts, adept at challenging leaders to ensure business plans and specifications are informed by market intelligence and category strategies and contracts are performing well to maximise the benefit for TfL and ensure we bring the best in house. This activity plays a key part in driving TfL’s overall strategic objective in implementing the Mayor's Transport Strategy.

As an experienced Procurement professional, operating in a large matrix organisation, of a similar scale to TfL, your experience will include leading and motivating a category team that develops and executes procurement and contract management (in excess of £200m+) within a highly intensive operational environment.
