Senior Category Lead/Procurement Lead
Helping London grow in a way that improves the quality of life for everyone.
At TfL, our purpose is to keep London moving, working and growing. And as the capital’s population is forecast to rise by almost 2 million people by 2041, we’ll need to work hard to deliver new, progressive ways of planning London's growth.
London Underground is the world’s oldest underground railway. Since its inception 1863, this iconic network has grown to 270 stations across 11 lines carrying over one billion passengers every year. This world-famous network which was built to provide customers with safe, affordable and reliable transport has become one of the city’s most vital services. To meet the needs of London as it grows, we must continuously modernise and improve our services. Our capital investment plan is one of the largest in Europe boasting significant capacity enhancements, accessibility improvements, and the roll out of brand new air conditioned trains. All this will help us achieve our aim of 80% of all trips in London being made on foot, by cycle or by public transport by 2041.
Working for TfL means being part of a progressive organisation, where diversity is valued and where your contribution and difference is appreciated. It also means chances to innovate, to make a positive impact on London and to take your career in any number of exciting directions.

You’ll develop and maintain close working relationships with key business leaders within London Underground, acting as a strategic advisor, whilst also identifying greater efficiencies in delivery and driving greater productivity.
You’ll lead the selection and management of 3rd party suppliers/contractors within your category, through the deployment of suitably qualified and experienced procurement resources, good governance, effective commercial practices and strong supplier relationships. Alongside this and key to the role will be ensuring that you draw the most value from the 3rd party relationships with a continuous aim to drive efficiencies.
You’ll be inquisitive by nature with a strong commitment to seeking out and developing innovative ideas and ways of working to reduce end to end cost, whilst drawing on your comprehensive knowledge and understanding of EU and UK legislation and regulations covering commercial activities.
We are looking for influential procurement experts, adept at challenging leaders to ensure business plans and specifications are informed by market intelligence and category strategies and contracts are performing well to maximise the benefit for TfL and ensure we bring the best in house. This activity plays a key part in driving TfL’s overall strategic objective in implementing the Mayor's Transport Strategy.
