This is a rare career development opportunity in that it offers a realistic roadmap over the next few years of progressing into general management based upon your success in delivering sales growth. Our client is a small high growth potential specialist subsidiary of an industrial manufacturing group with an excellent reputation for its design and manufacturing capability in custom made specialist components used in broad range of OEM markets. 

Reporting to the Managing Director you will focus on delivering new business wins in sectors such as defence, aerospace, pharmaceutical, food, fire protection and general manufacturing industry to name some. The sales process involves close collaboration with the engineering teams in customer environments at the early concept stages of product development programmes with a view to establishing long term supply agreements for repeatable business. The company has a deep and extensive portfolio of contacts which can be further developed and there will be no shortage of opportunities for new business. 

A high calibre candidate on an upward trajectory in their career is required. You are likely to have been either an apprentice with a mechanical engineering background or be a graduate engineer, mechanical or materials science and you will have built your career in sales and new business development in a world-class manufacturing group. Ideally your experience will be in the specialist component manufacturing segment and you will be comfortable working in an environment where product design, applications engineering and approval cycles can be detailed and extensive. You must also be able to demonstrate proof of your success in growing an OEM customer base. You will be given lots of scope by the Managing Director to make your mark and be supported by an internal sales colleague. Going forward there is a real prospect of this role growing into a general management position over the next few years but this will be predicated on your success in delivering new business coupled with your ability to match your ambition. Your initial focus will be selling in the UK market and longer term looking at exports. The Group operates through a culture of engineering excellence and employee engagement and has a worldwide reputation for the innovation and performance of its products. 

This opportunity is rare because of its potential and the benefits package is broad ranging and comprehensive. The location is very open operating from a home office but you will be expected to integrate as part of the senior team and make regular visits to the head office in the M3 / M4 corridor.
