Our client is a high growth SME and is established as a market leader in the manufacture of electric drive systems. It supplies customers worldwide and has a strong foothold in the commercial vehicle marketplace. It manufactures from two sites on a variable batch production basis including bespoke elements and mixed technologies; mechanical, electrical, electronic and software. It is on a steep growth curve and it has an enviable reputation for its design, technical competence and innovation.
This is a new key role forming part of the senior team and reporting to the Head of Manufacturing Operations. You will drive the production engineering function leading a team of engineers and technicians in taking new products through the complete NPI process from concept review to finished production and including the product development of multiple elements ranging from electric motors, power controllers, battery systems and telematics. You will also ensure the efficient transition of new product designs into manufacturing whilst also creating best practice standard operating procedures and test processes. There will be a heavy accent on the introduction, development and continuance of lean manufacturing techniques coupled with significant workforce engagement.
Ideal candidates will be degree qualified in an electronic/electrical or related discipline and have significant experience of NPI for complex electronic assemblies. Your formative training will have been in a proactive, dynamic world-class environment and you will be up to date with the documentation and work instructions required in a manufacturing environment such as this and this will include a strength in the use of 2D and 3D CAD and other software tools to produce the required documentation.
An early career experience in product design would also be advantageous.
