Reports into: DIO Commercial Director, Ministry of Defence
Location: London, Glasgow, Andover or Huntingdon location as base with travel to various locations. Relocation costs will not be reimbursed.
Salary: £90,000 to £130,000+ up to 20% performance-related-pay, GCO pension and GCO terms

The Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) is part of the Ministry of Defence and plays a vital role in supporting our Armed Forces by building, maintaining and servicing the infrastructure that the men and women who serve our country need to live, work, train and deploy on operations. DIO is responsible for managing £3.25 billion annual investment in to the defence estate in the UK and overseas, and manages an estate valued at circa £35billion.
The Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) Commercial Function is responsible for all aspects of DIO commercial management and contractual commitments for those requirements which DIO has procurement responsibility. This includes hard and soft facilities management, construction projects and PFIs.
The Regional Commercial Head has the responsibility of supporting the DIO Commercial Director to create and deliver a best in class commercial function supporting the DIO and budget holders. The post holder is responsible for putting in place and maintaining the commercial and procurement strategy and management and control systems necessary to manage all commercial commitments made by DIO, as well as personally negotiating and awarding the largest of DIO’s contracts.
Managing a team of >100 staff across multiple locations in the UK you will have responsibility for the delivery of Hard and Soft FM, construction and major infrastructure projects to the Army, Navy, RAF and Joint Forces Command in the UK and overseas.
The Regional Commercial Head will be supporting the Commercial Director to Lead the DIO through a significant business improvement programme. This is a senior leadership role in a large Defence business that is going through a period of significant change.
To succeed in this role, you will be able to demonstrate evidence of leadership and development of commercial teams ideally within environment undergoing significant change or transformation. You will be able to demonstrate a track record of creating and delivering commercial strategies, adding significant value your stakeholder group. You will have the ability to work as a member of a larger team, able to secure confidence of, and to build strong working relationships with colleagues in delivery organisations and in industry. Finally, strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential and you will be able to relate commercial information to a non-specialist audience both on a 1-2-1 basis and with senior officers in a large forum.
