Senior Financial Controller/Finance Director
Our client a leading national business services consultancy are seeking a Senior Financial Controller/Finance Director to add dimension and breadth to their finance team, underpinning the management of the financial function whilst reporting into the Chief Financial Officer. However this role is broader than a typical Controller role as you will have autonomy and responsibility to work in an FD capacity, with the future progressing to take on the No. 1 role. This is the mapping the business intends and your career will develop to give you the scope and eventually the lead position.
You will be an ambitious qualified Chartered Accountant, currently working at Senior Financial Controller, or into an early career at Finance Director level. It is intended that this position will grow in credence and value and the career and succession plan will be to move the successful person into the role of Finance Director in the future. Communication is paramount to be able to direct, influence and challenge at all levels, from the finance team, to create, cajole and encourage a dynamic and effective team and to work closely with Stakeholders, senior management and Directors of the organisation to ensure finance, business development and direction are communicated and acted upon effectively by all personnel and customers both internal and external.
Personal responsibilities will include:
- Leading the finance function, ensuring best accounting practices and control processes are in place
- Working closely with the CFO and key stakeholders across the business to challenge and drive business performance
- Demonstrating strong commercial acumen and the ability to drive innovation in the finance function to improve analysis and the provision of business information
- Taking a lead role in developing, implementing, analysing, maintaining and presenting strategic business and financial plans
- Managing a team direct and indirect reports of financial personnel
- Strong experience and understanding of financial systems is essential
- Alongside these personal responsibilities will be adhoc projects, business, management and director level interaction.
It is essential that you are a qualified accountant (ACA / CIMA / ACCA) with effective leadership experience with finance and non-finance people. Experience of working within a firm that has multiple disciplines and a complex customer-centric environment. You will have exceptional commercial, financial and analytical skills, coupled with the ability to solve complex strategic challenges through deliverable and profitable solutions. In addition to your technical capabilities, you will also have outstanding interpersonal and presentation skills, with the capacity to engage at all levels across the business while providing effective leadership to the finance team. The breadth of this role is such that your key performance indicator's will range from man management and development of your team, working "hands on" to support your team. You will be implementing a new finance system, so experience of Netsuite or a similar package would be highly desirable. You will also play a key part in the senior management and leadership team, so you will be operating in a downwards and upwards managerial capacity.
The client is keen to see cv's of candidates who can demonstrate the experience of - team management, managing stakeholder/business partnering relationships influencing the business decision makers and supporting the strategic programme. You may be in a Senior Financial Controller role currently looking for an upwards move in the near future, or even a Finance Director with a few years experience in a number 1 role, but looking for a bigger position. The final KPI to mention is experience of professional/business services, maybe a medium-large business, with multi site operations.
