We are looking for an Employee Relations and HR Policy Transformation Specialist to work in our HR Policy and ER team at a Government Department at the heart of EU Exit. You will ideally be CIPD qualified or working towards this with a strong employee relations background. You will be used to dealing with senior stakeholders and be confident and creative in your approach in dealing and transforming HR policies and procedures. We are a small but busy and fast paced HR team and are looking for the right person to join us. If this sounds like you then please read on.

Responsibilities will include:

To work with the Deputy Director and Head of ER to deliver our ER strategy and framework from conception

To provide a high standard of advice and guidance on ER issues to senior leaders and line managers in accordance with operational and legislative requirements

To create, provide, maintain and update appropriate ER training materials/monthly reports to HR and line managers

To work with the HR Policy team to creatively and innovatively transform our HR Policy Suite and ensure it meets the ask of our employees

To ensure line managers across the business have a clear understanding of core HR policies and procedures

To coach stakeholders in the skills they require to manage ER issues effectively

To provide advice on business-critical activity e.g. closures, restructures, merges, acquisitions

To be accountable for the efficient management of tribunal and early conciliation claims

To participate in strategic project work as required, we are a fast paced team with high profile projects

To deliver ER training sessions across the organisation as required

To take on supporting transformation projects as required, including supporting our digital teams in the HR Hub digital transition

Essential Skills:

  • Exceptional ER experience including advising on complex disciplinary and grievance issues with deep rooted employment law knowledge and ability to risk assess multiple cases simultaneously
  • Experience of supporting organisational change
  • Experience of dealing with trade unions regarding collective bargaining & pay negotiations
  • Strong communication, influencing and relationship skills across all levels of management
  • Strong attention to detail & problem solving skills
  • Creative and innovative in their approach
