“...succession to CEO opportunity via MBO in rapidly evolving market...”
South West / circa £120,000 + benefits
With strong customer loyalty, our client is a B2B/B2C multi-sited service proposition operating across a rapidly evolving and consolidating niche market. Their business is top tier and values-driven with a strong CSR engagement, yet couched in the commercial reality of providing real service excellence with sustainable rates of return. Entrepreneurially led they are entering a new phase of development with an ambitious strategy that has challenged the team to deliver exponential growth through a mix of organic prospecting and M&A actively. The target: £50m EV within a three to five-year horizon. With the founder signalling their intention to exit the business at the end of this timeline, they seek to strengthen the senior team with a commercially focused Finance Director with the desire and ability to lead an MBO when the opportunity arises.
Supporting the CEO, this is a commercially focused mandate that will contribute extensively to the strategic direction of the business. So whilst functionally the brief requires the usual mix of financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, financial & performance monitoring, challenging pricing and contracts, cash control, and systems development; beyond this is a significant requirement to take ownership of the growth piece by supporting the CEO with commercial evaluation of organic and M&A activity and post-acquisition integration. The role also challenges you to extend your focus beyond your own financial function, demonstrating first hand your broader commercial skillset and your credentials as heir-apparent at exit.
This is a dynamic executive role requiring a commercially ACA / ACMA with real gravitas. A finance partner capable of providing sensible guidance to the boardroom yet equally embedded in the day to day operation, with highly developed skills in the evolution and implementation of intelligent processes and systems that deliver meaningful and trustworthy MI/reporting. In particular we welcome candidates from operational businesses with large virtual workforces and those familiar with the mechanics of public sector bid & tender. So this mandate should appeal to established functional leaders who enjoy the granularity of hands-on management within a ‘lean team’ culture, yet have the ambitions of future leadership.
