Reliance Bank Limited (‘the Bank’) was founded over 100 years ago. It is wholly owned by The Salvation Army and operates in a highly caring and ethical environment. It is a growing business. It is not only The Salvation Army that relies on the Bank; it is also trusted by many private customers, as well as other churches, charities, and businesses.The Bank provides banking services, which includes a range of selective retail banking products to personal and SME clients, domiciled in the UK. 

Following a recent strategic review of the business by the Board of Directors, a five year plan has now been agreed with the shareholder; the overarching aim being to drive a broader spread of income sources, particularly in the area of SME commercial lending. The CEO therefore seeks to appoint a Commercial Director to work with him as a key member of his leadership team as they enter a significant phase of business transformation. This is a newly created role that will be pivotal in ensuring the Bank continues to serve their customers better and grow their ethical banking franchise. 

Reporting to the CEO, the Commercial Director will have overall responsibility for running all front office delivery for the Bank including: new business development, customer relationship management, mortgage processing, marketing and product development. You will ensure effective use of resources to drive cost management, support business performance, deliver agreed operating plan and maintain financial strength to ensure a viable and sustainable business model. You will do this whilst ensuring that the Bank complies with its statutory and regulatory obligations. 

The appointee will be an experienced, highly adaptable commercial banking leader with a minimum of five years of having recently operated at Area/Regional Director or specialist sector head level within a Bank (or specialist commercial lender). You will have a proven track record in delivering sustainable business growth – a proven business winner, capable of leading/inspiring continuous team performance improvement; you will have strong credit and deal structuring skills. Working with a highly committed staff, the appointee will be instrumental in maintaining a working environment that is professionally focused and engenders the Bank’s ethical conscience.
