Contract Control for a Major Procurement Programme
My client is one of the most prestigious names in engineering. They are a world class company with an engineering pedigree that extends over a hundred years. Currently engaged in a multi-billion pound high technology engineering and construction programme, they now wish to hire a Contract Officer who will support a multi-million pound sub-contract.
The Contract Officer will take ownership of the management of the contract, ensuring that costs are kept under control, delivery is in-line with budget and any variances accounted for. He or she will also provide procurement support ensuring that best value contracts are awarded, taking account of whole contract values. He or she will actively develop relationships with suppliers and work closely with department managers to ensure that business requirements are fully understood and delivered against. The Contract Officer will also lead activity in the area of supplier performance assessment and ongoing evaluation. Delivering value for money, the Contract Officer will support project colleagues and take the commercial lead in negotiations with existing and potential suppliers.
The successful candidate will have solid experience of working in contracts or procurement department in a project-driven engineering or construction environment. He or she will have proven ability to build relationships with suppliers, including managing negotiations, and also have a track record of providing procurement services for a diverse range of colleagues. Ideally but not essentially degree qualified, applicants will need to demonstrate the ability to challenge the existing contracts and procurement activities and to suggest improvements. CIPS qualification would be advantageous. Above all candidates need to be strong team players, able to make their contribution to a world-class engineering programme.
