Head of Broker Services – Unum – Basingstoke based

Unum is looking for an inspirational Head of Customer Services who will drive the improvement of our Broker Services function.

As one of the UK’s leading employee benefits providers, we provide financial protection products such as income protection, sick pay insurance, critical illness cover, dental insurance and life insurance through the workplace.  From ensuring financial protection and providing medical and vocational rehabilitation, to supporting wellbeing in the workplace, we help give them and their employees peace of mind, when they need it most. We have more than 45 years’ experience of providing benefits for UK employers. Our traditional distribution model means that we work with Brokers who resell our products to employers. Our Broker Services team are the link between Unum and the Brokers and provide an essential service to our customers.

The function has undergone period of significant and effective change over the last 2 years but there are still a number of strategic initiatives we are committed to deliver. We are looking to enhance the customer journey as new technology emerges and establish Unum as the market leader for Customer Service in the Group Risk market.

We are looking for someone who can display…

  • A proven track record of building, shaping, motivating, developing and leading change in a large (100+ people), multi-site customer service operation to improve efficiency and customer outcomes plus the ability to lead, and build a leadership team to deliver a service with the customer at the heart of it.
  • Previous experience of working in Financial Services and working in a regulated environment plus an appreciation of the opportunity to develop multi-channel service proposition.
  • Excellent well-developed stakeholder management skills and experience at all levels.

This is a key role for our business and is accountable for driving the overall strategy and operational performance of the Broker Services Division. The teams are based across both Basingstoke and Dorking sites. This role sits on the Customer Services Leadership team and you will be expected to contribute to the achievement of Unum’s business objectives by developing, managing and implementing an effective and aligned customer servicing capability to enable Unum to achieve current and future objectives.
