This is a unique opportunity, with UK assets of over £1.5bn and with a long history as a major employer in the South-West; YTL is using this historic site as the starting point to becoming one of the UK’s leading developers.  Enjoying the critical mass of a 354 acre site, projecting approx. 2,675 homes + a further 62 acres of employment space, 3 schools and both metro bus and rail connectivity (with a new station), it is substantive. Given an immediate cost budget of £60m cost, a further forecast of £100m for remediation and infrastructure, it is a serious investment…with serious intent, needing serious financial leadership requiring serious reporting lines.

The Role is to provide the firm financial and commercial leadership to drive the initiative forward, to achieve its objectives (to time, cost and quality) alongside the CEO, directors and department heads. The Rationale is to become both the financial conscience and navigator for the project – the point of compliant governance, prudence and confidentiality…addressing all key financial matters as they occur, supporting the Board in the appraisal and fulfilment of suitable proposals and opportunities. The Responsibility is to support the above by developing requisite accounting policies, procedures and protocols to deliver timely and meaningful monthly and annual reports underpinned by appropriate IT/MI and systems development. Adding value via incisive/insightful budget, forecasts and analyses to performance manage the project’s progress, is also port of the job.

The Reporting is both high level, to CEO and Group FD re board papers and shareholder reports (+ special projects), lateral as a joint member of the S.M.T. and external, liaising with auditors and advisors etc. The Remit is to be the central contact and pivot for all operational management on financial matters – “literally managing money”: cashflow, cost control, tracking transactions, reviewing W.I.P, working capital expenditure and overheads via a team of 4.

The requirement is for an outstanding experienced FC or FD and talent is the key driver. You will be a graduate qualified accountant with a lean D.I.Y. mentality, a “can-do” attitude and a collegiate mentality. Whilst sector experience and exposure to “COINS” is advantageous, capability is the deciding factor – technical excellence is a given, ambition is the currency. If you seek challenge and opportunity, YTL and the Filton initiative have just that.
