Newnham College, with an all-women Fellowship and student body, has been at the forefront of promoting academic excellence for women since its foundation in 1871. With around 700 undergraduate and graduate students and 50 academic Fellows, Newnham is a thriving and dynamic intellectual community where its members work at the highest academic level. This is a particularly exciting time for the College, with the appointment of our new Principal and the opening of our new Dorothy Garrod building imminent, the recent TedX event, and involvement with significant university-wide initiatives such as the Women in Tech challenge, SPRINT and the educational leadership series. These sit alongside the award-winning research and teaching of our academic staff to ensure a well-rounded educational experience for our students.
The College now seeks a Bursar to provide strong financial, operational and strategic leadership. Working closely with the Fellowship, he or she will lead and manage the College’s support functions, enabling Newnham to provide an exceptional environment for its students and staff. Reporting to and working closely with the Principal, the Bursar will play an important ambassadorial role within Collegiate Cambridge.
The successful candidate will be a visible, adaptable and collaborative leader, demonstrating an ethos of continuous improvement and service to others. He or she will possess exceptional financial and operational management skills gained as a senior leader in a comparably complex organisation. The appointee will demonstrate excellent organisational abilities and the communication and interpersonal skills to work well with the Fellows, staff and students of the College.
