The Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) is the world’s only professional accountancy body to specialise in public services, and our portfolio of qualifications is the foundation for a career in public finance.

With over half our trainees outside the UK and a growing global membership, we work across public services in national audit agencies, major accountancy firms, and other organisations and companies around the world where public money needs to be effectively and efficiently managed.

We support best practice in the management of public sector resources and use our values and expertise to help UK and international public financial managers as they grapple with sovereign debt issues and austerity programmes and the range of responses these require.

Reporting into the CEO, our new Chief Operating Officer will be critical in driving performance across the range of CIPFA products and services. Leading a range of service and corporate support teams, the successful candidate will have an impressive track record in delivering improved commercial outcomes but also shows the judgement and awareness to understand our markets. Playing a key corporate leadership role, the incoming COO will also play a fundamental role in driving CIPFA strategy and working across the institution as a key senior leader working closely with colleagues, CIPFA Management Board and external stakeholders.  You will be a confident leader and people manager, who can empower and inspire teams to deliver and innovate, while engaging and influencing an extensive range of stakeholders.

You will be joining CIPFA at a time of change both internally and externally where there has rarely been so much change and challenge within the public sector finances. You will be responsible for developing and implementing corporate strategies and plans within a challenging financial and political landscape.
