This private equity-backed tech enabled B2B services business requires an experienced Commercial Director to develop and execute an organic growth strategy for the business moving forward. Holding responsibility for all sales, marketing, product development, channel sales, corporate partnerships and pricing, this broad commercial role is a critical hire for the business. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and implement a 3 year detailed commercial strategy, agreeing with the board the commercial targets
  • Set and implement the strategies required to deliver these targets
  • Structure, build and manage the team to deliver your plan and targets, setting incentive plans to recognise and reward the team individually and collectively
  • Define and develop processes and procedures that ensure a uniform and scalable commercial approach
  • Working closely with the company’s sales team to evaluate customer research, market conditions and competitor data in order to implement a sales and marketing plan that will drive organic sales growth
  • Reviewing customer and supplier contracts and making recommendations on commerciality
  • To maintain and develop commercial relationships with various existing strategic partners 
  • To develop new strategic commercial relationships with complimentary organisations in other adjacent vertical markets
  • Identifying profitable commercial opportunities to grow revenue in new markets
  • Be responsible for developing and maintaining marketing strategies to meet agreed company objectives. To oversee all marketing, advertising and promotional activities, including the selection and liaison with third party marketing/PR agencies. To manage a team of 5 in the marketing department

Requirements:

  • Commercial background with experience of, or exposure to, both Sales and Marketing;
  • Experience of, and confidence in, making business critical decisions;
  • Significant experience within a technology enabled services business;
  • Comfortable in fast moving entrepreneurial environment;
  • Financially and operationally literate; 
  • Ability to align sales strategy, performance and culture with wider company objectives;
  • Demonstrable experience of sales into corporate and public sector clients;
  • Demonstrable General Management and P&L leadership experience;
  • Experience of operating within a PE-backed business is strongly preferred.
