The Organisation

Our client is a leading European manufacturer of rolling stock and other rail related products

Role and Responsibilities

An interim General Manager with a background in railways or similar is required for our client who is finalising acquisition of a railway in Kazakhstan (Astana). The interim General Manager will overlook the year-long transition period

The interim General Manager will oversee the Operational Direction of the activities, project management, industrial, supply chain, controlling, quality and HR

There are currently 500 staff

Reporting to the COO based in Zurich you will receive support for Kazak administration relations from the Chairman and Country Director

This is a twelve-month interim assignment, based in Kazakhstan with an immediate start

The Desired Applicant

The interim General Manager will:

  • Be a knowledgeable mechanical engineer with extensive experience in the railways sector or similar business model (project oriented, small batch, contract management) such as Energy, Aeronautic or Truck sectors
  • Ideally possess international experience (Eastern Europe, Middle East, Asia, Africa) will be a plus
  • You must have strong manufacturing and project management experience; consultancy work is not sufficient
