The role

With an impressive command of data, investigators take the lead in conducting trade remedies investigations. While supporting the UK economy, you’ll benefit from comprehensive in-house training, and build CV-boosting, high-profile experience.

Taking charge of an investigation team, while building relationships with businesses around the world and our own teams, you’ll have all you need to build your leadership profile. Leading teams to manage cases from start to finish, you will review accounting information and complex evidence to make evidence-based recommendations.

You’ll oversee quality assurance, consider competing pieces of evidence, and set clear direction. Reporting directly to the Head of Investigations, you’ll instil best practice and ensure everyone has the skills and resources they need to be effective.

Requirements

A strong leader, calm under pressure, you can inspire, motivate and guide others. You’ll understand the political, economic and commercial context of operating in the international trade sector.

As a minimum, you will:

  • Have demonstrable project management skills
  • Be able to draw conclusive recommendations from quantitative and qualitative data
  • Be able to develop robust analysis on the particular facts and circumstances of a case within the context of UK legislation and policy and be able to defend it against scrutiny

You’ll have a degree or equivalent work experience in one of the following:

  • Law
  • Accounting
  • Audit
  • Economics
  • Business
  • Engineering
  • Sciences
  • International trade
  • Commercial investigations

It’s desirable if you have experience/knowledge of:

  • Trade remedies
  • Trade policy
  • International trade laws
  • The WTO dispute settlement system

In particular, we are looking for:

  • The ability to communicate advice effectively both in writing and orally.
  • The ability to think strategically and creatively, see issues in their wider context and advise accordingly.
  • Reliable judgement and appreciation of risk
  • Sound analysis to produce timely and fit for purpose advice
  • Experience of line management and/or workstream leadership
