The Company

A high profile manufacturing business in the Sheffield region are looking to appoint a Finance Director, who will be brought into the business to spearhead a number of high profile projects, as well as take responsibility for the day to day running of the finance department.

One of the main focal areas for this person is to support the Operations Director on strategic and commercial initiatives, and ensure the finance department is held in high regard across all areas of the business.

The Job

This is a very broad role, with the main duties summarised as below:

  • Leadership of the finance department, consisting of Financial Controller, AP, AR, Payroll and Financial Accounting departments
  • Responsibility for the management accounting team and redesigning of the MI suite
  • Manage FX hedging and liquidity matters
  • Work closely with the operations and commercial teams to drive improved financial performance
  • Support the business with ad-hoc projects around ERP and process improvement
  • Manage external relationships with the bank, auditors and other financial institutions
  • Drive a culture where high quality data and analytics are at the forefront of the company’s development

This role is anything but a back office, ‘number crunching’ Finance Director role – this person will need to be very vocal and visible across the entire group, and they will have an excellent opportunity to develop their careers as a finance leader.

With the Finance Director’s main areas of influence being not restricted to just finance - they will also include change management, projects, operations and external stakeholder management - this person will be taking on a challenging yet rewarding remit which will add huge value to their CV.

The Candidate

The successful candidate would be required to meet the following criteria:

  • Fully qualified, high calibre finance leaders (ACCA / CIMA / ACA)
  • Experience working for a large scale manufacturing or engineering business would be essential
  • Candidates must be able to work well within a change management environment
  • Candidates must have broad experience working in senior finance roles, and be able to demonstrate they can  manage both internal and external stakeholders
