This is a rare opportunity to develop the Supply Chain function of a leading, well-established and successful specialist manufacturer.
Our client is a privately-owned SME which processes plastic waste and converts this into a broad range of products for a wide cross section of customers with specific applications. The Company operates from a single-site on a 24/7 shift pattern basis, with an established and experienced workforce in place.
The customer base includes utility companies, building and construction companies, agricultural products manufacturers and specialist fabricators, and these are demanding in terms of on-time delivery, lead-time and quality metrics.
The Organisation is looking forward to significant growth in the next three to five years.
This is a new role reporting to the CEO and forms part of the senior leadership team.
The role carries full responsibility for the company’s supply chain function and the development of the supply base.There is an existing team of colleagues in production planning, purchasing, materials flow and logistics.
A key requirement in the role is to develop a high performing team whilst implementing in a hands-on way a supply chain strategy that maximises customer satisfaction through product on-time delivery, material cost reduction and the successful introduction of new products into the manufacturing process.
There is a distinct supplier base and scope will be given to review, rationalise and improve supplier relationships, source new suppliers where necessary and implement supplier agreements.
Strong emphasis will be placed on the planning aspects and managing the demand side including close collaboration with colleagues in Sales.
A high calibre candidate on an upward curve in their career is required. You will have:
- A good quality university degree and ideally CIPS.
- An impressive career in operational supply chain management.
- A track record of commercial success.
- Experience in logistics for a specialist manufacturer
- Trained in a world-class environment
- Successful progression through SMEs
- Enjoy the challenges and hands-on nature of working in an SME such as this
- A strong team leader, coach and mentor.
- Conversant with lean concepts, the importance of data accuracy and have a real strength in the planning aspects
